Course Description

There is a list of fire safety regulations made by the National Fire Protection Agency (NFPA) that exist to maintain safe conditions in the workplace. 

These regulations make a point that prevention is the first step against accidents that may involve fires. If every regulation is upheld there is a significant decrease in risk of workplace accidents since they cover maintenance, design, installation, and general guidance on fire safety.

Course Goal

To enhance participants’ knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to be equipped with basic knowledge of Fire Standards and Regulations.

Course Objectives

By the end of this course, participant will be able to:

  • Understand fire service history and evolution.
  • Be aware of firefighter safety and PPE/SCBA use.
  • Gain knowledge of incident management systems.
  • Understand fire behavior and building construction.
  • Be Familiarized with portable fire extinguishers, tools and equipment.
  • Learn about performing response and size-up, forcible entry, ladder operations, search and rescue, vehicle rescue and extrication, ventilation, water supply, fire attack, foam operations, and salvage and overhaul.
  • Knowledge of firefighter survival and rehabilitation.
  • Be aware of extreme cold weather operations, wielding and ground fires, and fire suppression.
  • To conduct pre-incident planning, fire prevention and public education.
  • Be Familiarized with fire detection, protection, and suppression systems and fire cause determination.
  • Understand hazardous materials and terrorism awareness.
