Course Description

Slickline Operations introduces the techniques and technologies involved in working with slickline and braided wireline. The course is a practical approach to special slick line applications and detailed description of downhole tools: procedures and tools for fishing and perforating, types of landing nipples, shifting tools, plugs, circulating devices, procedures and kickover tools for installing/retrieving GLM valves and subsurface safety valves.
 

Course Goal

To enhance the participants’ knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary to gain a clear understanding of the primary operations and need for Slickline in the oil and gas industry.
 

Course Objectives

By the end of this course, participant will be able to:

  • Be familiar with slick line unit
  • Use pressure control equipment
  • Determine tools string components
  • Be familiar with running and pulling tools
  • Be familiar with locks, standing valves and landing nipples
  • Operate flow control equipment
  • Understand running – setting – equalizing and pulling process
  • Use shifting tools
  • Be familiar with and use service and remedial tools
  • Understand gas lift operations
  • Understand fishing operations
